Research Interests and Some Personal Info. |
(1) Prof. Mitsuji Matsumoto joined NTT in 1970, and worked at the Electrical
Communication Laboratories (ECL) Research Center. His task were Research
& Development and International Standardization for Telematics, Mobile
Multimedia Communication System etc. In 1996, he changed job to Waseda
University and in 2000 joined Graduate School of Global Information Telecommunication
Studies (GITS). In Waseda University, he worked on the Research and Development
for Optical and Wireless Mobile Environment System,
(2)he established the Mobile Environment System Project Research Laboratory
and acting as the project Leader. The project is engaged in Construction
of Mobile Communication System, Construction of High Speed Campus Network
using 60 GHz Millimeter wave, Infrared Data Communication Interface, Design
of Protocol Architecture, Mobile IP and Mobile Agent and related Research
and Development.
In Design of Distance Learning System using Optical Wireless Network, so
far contents of different themes like cultural heritage of Silk-road, Moai
of Easter Island, Dietary Heritage of Scotland have been taken.
(4) In Productive ICT Academia of Waseda University 21st Century COE Project,
as a sub-leader, He is in charge of research of "Circulation of information
for human piece and impression.
(5) International Standardization Activity: Since 1979 and up to present,
He has attended the ITU-T (formerly CCITT) meeting and contributed to the
standardization of Facsimile, Telematics, Multimedia Services etc. At present,
he is the Vice-chairman of ITU-T SG16 (Multimedia services, systems and
Terminal),Working Party Chairman (2001-2004)
As a chairmen of Rapporteur's group 1988, he completed the Recommendation
T.90 for protocol architecture of ISDN G4 facsimile.
(6) In De-Facto standardization, he joined Infrared Data Association (IrDA)
and serving as Board Emeritus, Co-chair of Test Committee. At present he
is also serving in the standardization of ultra high speed 100Mbps infrared
data communication as a Co-chair of (UFIR, IrBurst)
At present, he is about the following official positions. |
