| This area aims to enable mastering of multimedia science and interrelated
fields through the integration of art and technology. |
The objective of this area is to help students conduct research into cyber-space
representations, image processing, multimedia representation, human communication,
audio language information processing, acoustic information processing,
media design and media art from the viewpoint of engineering and art targeting
multimedia. Specifically, the research conducted in this area covers not
only new knowledge in each field but also the integration of art and technology.
The following themes are systematically explored: 1) How to express and
store multimedia contents such as 3D images, video, voice and acoustic
sound, 2) How to effectively transmit stored information, and to reproduce
human-friendly contents, and 3) How to recognize existing media and to
load such media into systems. Interrelated research beyond individual art
and technology is also targeted. This area, therefore, aims to create knowledge,
work and application systems through interaction of art and technology.
A wide range of contents is dealt with and the research conducted aims
to contribute to the international community through the global use of
research results. |
