Project Summary |
The purpose of the course is to study and develop new design systems that
apply sense-base devices and visualized non-spatial information. Studies
will focus on visual expression theory and production technology in the
area of fine arts and design. Techniques will include virtual reality and
artificial realistic expressions over the Internet and mobile computer,
and other telecommunications systems.

Study Message |
Recently, I have been working on converting materials and documents from
the field of design and fine arts into an image database. The purpose of
this project is to show the remarkable progress made in technological developments
which enable this kind of reference tool to be used interactively rather
than just for presentation. One problem with this is that, until now, design
presentation technology and production techniques have never been standardized.
In computers, or in multimedia, production ideas are in the hands of the
manufacturers, and they are based on the needs of the collaborators and
consumers. I feel that progress in technology is impeded because we are
not making the best use of the computer's special qualities. In order to
resolve this problem while still encouraging user creativity in production
levels, a logical, flexible working environment is necessary. This new
environment could have a great deal of influence on the format of design
education. There is also a need for the arrangement and classification
of various design elements and teaching materials to be integrated into
this new environment. We should encourage the management of this kind of
information via the computer. This research, therefore, will present a
new product of interactive design together with an analysis of presentation
technology. I hope to suggest its use as a form of design education.
