There are two types of applications: domestic application and foreign application. The distinction is based on the applicant's place of residence as follows:
Domestic application refers to the procedures to be followed by applicants living in Japan, regardless of their nationality, for submission of the application form directly to GITS from within Japan. Foreign application refers to the procedures to be followed by applicants living outside Japan, regardless of nationality, for submission of the application form directly to GITS from outside Japan.

(1) Preliminary consultation
Preliminary consultation with GITS faculty is available to prospective applicants who would like to ask specific questions about the GITS curriculum and research environment through e-mail before submitting applications. Those who wish to have a preliminary consultation are advised to inform the Admissions Office of the names of their desired supervisors at an early stage.
* Preliminary consultation will not directly affect the result of the screening.
* Optional for applicants for the master's program/ Required for applicants for the doctorate program

(2) To request the admission guidebook and application forms
Prospective applicants can request the admission guidebook and a set of application forms from GITS Admissions Office by telephone, email, or down load them off the GITS homepage.
* The most of application forms can be downloaded off of the GITS homepage. However, in the event that a domestic application is made, a prospective applicant should, in addition to the downloaded forms, request an application for telegraphic transfer of the screening fee from the GITS Admissions Office.
|
(3) To submit the application forms
Please send your completed application forms to the GITS Admissions Office by mail after remitting the screening fee to the designated bank account.
* Documents and the screening fee will not be returned once submitted, regardless of any special circumstances on the part of the applicant.

(4) First screening
The GITS Admissions Office screens applicants based on documents sent by the applicant, such as necessary certificates, a letter of recommendation, and graduation research documentation;
or a list of academic achievements and a summary of a research plan. Results will be announced to each applicant.
|
(5) Second screening
<Domestic applicant> The applicant is required to make a presentation and sit for an interview on the designated day.
<Foreign applicant> If the applicant finds it difficult to visit Japan, other approaches such as conducting a question and answer session with the applicant via the Internet will be considered.

The GITS Admissions Office comprehensively evaluates the results of the first and second screenings of the applicants, and will announce the decision regarding admission to each applicant at a later time.
