Question I am studying Japanese but my Japanese competency has not reached a satisfactory level to respond in classes in Japanese language. Would it be possible to apply for GITS?
Answer An academic degree may be pursued in English at GITS. Japanese language course is available at the Center for Japanese Language, Waseda University.

Question My major at the undergraduate school is not computer or telecommunication related. Would it be possible to apply for GITS?
Answer It is possible to apply even if the major at the undergraduate school is different from research you would like to conduct at GITS. The GITS Admissions office will arrange the preliminary consultation with your desired supervisor if requested.

Question I am not a master's degree holder. Would it be possible to apply for a doctorate program at GITS?
Answer Please refer to the GITS application guidebook for details. If you can't find an answer, please feel free to contact the GITS Admissions Office.

Question I would like to apply for Career Development Course. But my work experience does not meet the requirement (3 years). Would it be possible to apply?
Answer We suggest you to submit your application. The qualification requirement is subject to examination during the documentary screening.

Question Among the application documents, what does the Admissions Office attach particular importance to?
Answer The Admissions Office comprehensively evaluates applicants based on such factors as research plans, interviews, etc.

Question Is it necessary to fill out the desired supervisor up to 5th desired supervisor in the application form?
Answer You can write up to a maximum of 5 desired supervisors. It is not always necessary to fill this out.

Question What is the ratio of successful to total applicants in previous entrance examination?
Answer It is not made public.

Question Are entrance examinations given by GITS in the past made public?
Answer GITS does not give written examinations. Applicants will be screened based on the submitted documents and presentation with regard to academic achievements.

Question I cannot find anyone appropriate to write a letter of recommendation (recommendation application) for me. What should I do?
Answer Self-recommendation will be fine.

Question Is a self-recommendation application a disadvantage for applicants?
Answer No, it is not.

Question I have not presented papers nor have any publications so far. Should I submit the overview of work history?
Answer In the event that you have not presented papers nor have any publications, a job description related to your research or desired research will be fine.

Question I have not graduated yet. So, it is impossible to submit the certificate of graduation and the transcript of records by the application deadline. What should I do?
Answer Please submit a certificate of expected graduation and the transcript of records at the time of application. Please submit the final certificate at the time of admission.

Question Would it be possible to register for specific subjects as a part-time student?
Answer GITS has an auditing service for non-degree students. Non-degree students can register for up to 2 basic subjects (4 credits) for one semester. The limit on the number of enrollment years is one year. For further details, please contact the GITS Admissions Office.

Question Is GITS planning to hold a school presentation for prospective applicants?
Answer GITS is not planning to hold a school presentation at this moment.

Question Would it be possible to get in touch with a desired supervisor via e-mail prior to admission to GITS?
Answer The GITS Admissions office will arrange the schedule and the contact methods of the preliminary consultation with your desired supervisor if requested.
