As the dean of GITS, I would like to share my two cents of thoughts.
Through the globalization of economy, people from around the world are getting to live in more prosperous society. To support this standard of living, Information and Telecommunication System plays a role as one of the important supporting infrastructure. With the aim to provide world-class advanced education on comprehensive info-telecommunications, GITS was established in April 2000 as an Independent Graduate School of Waseda University. Thanks to the cooperation and helps from many people, we gladly celebrated our 10th anniversary in year 2010.
The world has changed greatly in the past 10 years. Various problems have exposed, such as global warming that threaten the very existence of human kind, instability of global economy due to excessive financial liberalization, challenge in the allocation of resources and energy due to the rapid growth of developing countries and etc. Without solving these issues, the further development of our world is becoming more difficult. GITS is promoting researches with the aim to contribute to the establishment of new Information and Telecommunication Systems that could solve these issues, and progressing in developing human resources who would be pioneering these new areas from global perspective.

	Dec.
